HALCON Furniture, located in Stewartville, MN, manufactures award-winning, modern office furniture of the highest quality. We are currently seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs for all employees. In collaboration with management, this position will continue to promote our culture of safety and environmental compliance by providing training, conducting safety and risk assessments, compiling location trends, and completion of regulatory reporting. The Environmental Health and Safety Manager operates under supervision of the Vice President of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, recommend, and implement environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, safety drills, and environmental inspections to ensure readiness and compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies for reducing workplace injuries and promoting our culture of safety as well as promote a culture of environmental compliance.
  • Counsel, connect, and collaborate with employees who have environmental, health, and safety-related concerns or problems.
  • Provide training and development programs for employees on occupational health, first aid, emergency response, safe and environmentally compliant work practices.
  • Serve as the primary contact for emergency response situations.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, including communication with management and Human Resources on documentation and corrective action.
  • Manage worker’s compensation claim process, incident reporting, documentation, and employee return to work coordination.
  • Lead HALCON’s monthly Environmental, Health, and Safety committee meeting.
  • Manage multiple consultants to assist with environmental, health, and safety recordkeeping as well as reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison for plant issues related to fire protection, environment, health, safety and security.  
  • Develop strategies and approaches based on trends or data using the appropriate engineering, mechanical, behavioral, electrical, administrative, and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) controls. 
  • Examine plans and specifications for new machinery and plant layouts to ensure proper health, safety and environmental applications are in place (guarding, ergonomics, etc.).

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years prior experience as a safety manager or equivalent role preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judement and act decisively under emergency conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to apply understanding and tact when handling sensitive situations.
  • Able to conduct training programs where language barriers may exist.
  • Strong understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental programs and practices, including lean manufacturing integration.
  • Ability to acquire advanced Safety and Environmental Certifications.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to use multiple media approaches and job specific software.​​​​​​​
Salary Range:
